Life is anything but dull around here. Steven is back to his Naval Academy ways of competing for ultra study nerd. Just kidding- he just has an awesome work ethic. He leaves for work pretty early to work out, puts in long days, comes home to eat and then studies until it's not effective anymore. He says its like trying to understand black magic. At our spouses night towards the beginning of comm school, the instructors told us that they were trying to cram 2 years of information into 6 months!
So, Olivia and I are doing other things to stay occupied. Last week we finally went to visit the farmers market on base. It's part of the "healthy base initiavite." It was only a few stalls large. But there were plenty of fruits and veggies to go around. They were massive too. The carrots were as large as the cucumbers! There were a few that I admittedly had no idea what they were or how you would prepare them.

The other day we heard a scream from the other room so we ran into check on her. She would not stop crying for anything. The best we could come up with was that poked herself in the eye. It took her a couple of minutes before she would open her eyes. It was pretty sad and pathetic looking. We were worried for a bit that it may have been something more because her eye stayed red for several hours. In the end, she was fine though.
We tried a few new recipes too. These are lemon cupcakes with a raspberry filling. They were super yummy. In the future though, I would not use a cream cheese frosting.
I also tried makin the mango quinoa salad from OurBestBites.com for a BBQ on Labor Day. It was so good. Despite mangos being a pain to peel and cut up- I will totally be making this again.
It had actually been a while since we visited Steven for lunch. We went yesterday. It's really nice to have that time during the day since he comes home and has so much work to do. Plus Olivia is a whole lot less grumpy mid day than she is in the evenings.
She is also really loving to sit up and attempt to play that way. She can lift her back up more these days rather than just falling forward in half. After a couple of minutes, she starts to tip and ends up on her tummy. I feel like if she knew how to roll over she would enjoy her playtime so much more. She is not close to crawling by any means. However she's a pretty good at squirming to get closer to toys and other things she wants to put in her mouth.
